September 12th, St. Louis Missouri
My
good friend Cathy showed us the nicer side of this city and most of our time
was spent in a relatively small section in west St. Louis on the edge of Forest
Park. Her home, as usual, is a comfortable but chic place to land with a
great sense of style and décor, luxurious bedding to sink into and always a
cocktail
for just the right occasion.

The rest of our time
in St. Louis was happily spent hanging out with Cathy, a friend I have missed
for more than a year after she moved away from the DC metro area of
Maryland. Cathy was a catalyst among our group of women who orchestrated
so much of our social scene for many years. I’m not exaggerating when I
say she was the flame that we revolved around and to say she left a gaping hole
upon her move westward is not an understatement. However, as with great
friends, it was like we had never been away from one another from the first
moment we hugged hello. She and I stayed up late that first night
laughing and reminiscing over photographs of our many shared friends and
gatherings poolside at her Maryland suburb home. Joyce and I had a lovely
couple of days there and enjoyed our glimpse of the city of St. Louis from
Cathy’s point of view. It had the feel of small towns all clustered together to create an eclectic and multi-faceted Midwestern city. Definitely a place to come back and visit again. For those who are Cathy's friends, she misses her peeps and is always ready to host some thirsty travelers with her characteristic megawatt smile and warmth.
